What Fruits/Veggies to Start With?

Howdi:

I've browsed a little and can see that I am way out of my league here, which is OK by me (as long as you all can put up with my ignorance. ;) I'll be spending the next bit of my time reading through some threads.

However, if I could get a suggestion on feeding. Currently my finches are getting only seed and pellets. I want to start giving them other things to improve their diet, but don't know what to start with? I've gotten some mealworms and will start raising them. I've also seen recipes for egg food; and also for a grit/mineral mix that I'm going to be starting ASAP.

But here a see lots of threads on fruits and veggies, with many different types mentioned (some not available here, ASAIK). Is there a "best" list of fruits/veggies that I could pick 2 or 3 from?

Jon

Various types of Kale, various chinese vege, like pok choy and buk choi, and especially lebanese cucumber - and make sure it's lebanese! my finches never touched it until I gave them lebanese and now they love it :D

the only stupid or out-of-depth question is the one you don't ask :D

Good fruit I use banana ,Apple ,orange ,fig, kiwi fruit and passion fruit.
The vegies I use are corn on the cob, shredded carrot, leb,/continental cucumber ,leafy greens (bok Choy, silverbeet, wombok- anything with soft green leaves are good not rhubarb) ,broccoli. These are the basics but don't be discouraged if they don't take to it the first few times it took 6 times of offering figs but now they love if.

Skin on . No apple or pear /orange or mandarine seeds . Not sure which of these contains small amounts of toxins so I play safe .

Just wash it , chop it and chuck it in . The birds aren't looking at judging an episode of masterchef they just want yummy fresh produce. :D

Deb right wash and leave peel on deseed Apple seeds contain little amount of cyanide in it, not to sure about pear,Orange or mandarins but if you boil egg for them cut it in half and give it to them shell and all.
