Got back last week from a fortnight in China to find my TCPF (which I got from Graham Bull mid May) have built a nest. I knew to look for a nest as the large bag of emu feathers I’d placed in the aviary before I went travelling was empty. I’d read that the TCPF like emu feathers but didn’t appreciate how much. Each time I add more feathers they are whisked away into the nest. No mucking about.
What is nice is that they have nested in the ‘hotel’ I built. Even nicer is the Painted that came from Graham with the TCPF are nesting in the hotel as well - right underneath the TCPF. Fifteen spots to choose from and they decide to camp close. So far, no major biffo between the pairs. As for TCPF - glorious birds. Busy, inquisitive and beautiful.

Clawd.
