Ok,we now have 1 (1.5 x 1.6 x 1.8H) avairy and 6 breeding cabinets.

In the avairy we have 2 baby Goulds 1 adult male Gouldian and a pair of Canaries.

In the breeding cabinets we have 2 pairs of Zebras,2 pairs of Society Finch.Leaving 2 spare cabinets for later.

We are thinking of moving the canaries up to the cabinet and selling the gouldians that way the avairy will be empty. So we can move any future babies into the avairy to be sold....???

Would this be a good way to manage our birds.

Harvey11 said dad, we could just build a bigger avairy but dad said thats not going to happen lol lol lol.

Thanks
Brett

diagnosis- finch addict, symptoms include the desire to keep and breed more and more species , also to build more aviaries. prognosis - a lifetime of enjoyment

Its not such a bad idea Brett , Id rather see the young grow out in an aviary than in a cabinet .

You do what suits you , if another aviary isn't on the cards then your idea seems like a good solution.

I think Harvey is on the right track, you just have to think outside the box a bit.
More aviaries, means less grass.
Less grass means less mowing.
Less grass means less water usage on the lawn.
After that you can either choose to keep the water bill a bit lower or spend a bit extra time in the shower warming up on these cold mornings.
Time spent with the kids building and stocking the aviary....priceless. :D
