I have been waiting patiently for 14 days and now I have my first ever baby zebra finches :o . I have a question, 2 out of my 4 eggs have hatched, are these eggs infertile or will they hatch in a few days. Here are some pictures.
Also is there anything special i now need to do,i have been keeping up the seed, egg biscuit and greens.I change the water every day and keep the cabinet clean and draught free..

Iam very exited

Congratulations Harvey, now sit back and wait till they fledge the nest, what ever your doing keep it up and you should see three leave the nest around 21 days. Just remember not to poke in the nest too much the parents won't mind the odd occasion and I know its hard not too.

Congratulations
I always leave any unhatched eggs in the nest for a couple of reasons, less messing around in the nest being the main thing.
I have read that the unhatched egg can act like a hot water bottle for the chicks and also it give the chicks something to balance against.

Thats just awesome Harvey ...you obviously are doing everything right ...well done

Oh and yep now you have to be patient and leave them be , wont be long till they explode out of the nest .

BB I leave mine in the nest too (infertile eggs) . I know that some of my parrots will eat the eggshell so I kinda figure it might be a natural way of getting extra calcium .
