As long as the birds have a clear long flightpath I don't think you could have too much brush on the walls. Potted plants, dry brush, branches are all good options. Have a look at some of the threads in the Aviary forum to get some ideas.

If it reaches the front wire that might be a tad too much!
Seriously though I think a good depth of brush only makes the finches feel secure and can only increase your chances of nesting. It would also act as a great insulator.
I usually put pots with live plants in the biggest aviary. Up to now the finches have decimated one small tree so be prepared to swap and change them around. They also get plants pots of endive and wheatgrass, gives them something to rip to shreds.
Grapevine is excellent for different type of branches, some I have are more of a spiral.
I have also made perching trees (broom handle with dowling sticking out at different places)
Once you have five posts you will be able to check out the aviary section. Lots of different ideas.

Hi Daniel, brush is great furniture for your aviery as the post said above just make sure that it isn't very thick as finches are to weak to actually break through so some breaking on your behalf may be required allowing them entrance to the inside of the brush, I also like to use fern frongs attached to the wall rocks- becareful not to trip over them. Just a few to give you something to think about.

Thank you very much for your ideas,
do you think adding such items would interrupt the finches that are nesting already?
appreciate the help.
