A lot of work, one of the smartest birds around, & if it does not get the attention it need you'll be paying for it. I reared my hen from 4 days old, put her out in the aviary with a cock, she beat the living hell out of it, & made it stay out in one of the worst storms we'd had in a long time. So inside he came & I swapped him for an older cock, took nearly 6 months for them to settle in, ever since, she beats the living hell out of anyone game enough to enter her cage.
Also, remember that they are fruit eaters & not seed eaters, fresh fruit & vege every morning, with a top up in the arvo, a little seed maybe once or twice a week, but only a small parrot mix, to much sunflower ect. make them fat, unproductive, & very lethargic.

Is it ok to feed them pellets as their main diet with fruit vegetables and seed?.

I don't even use pellets for the chooks, I prefer to use natural diets rather than formulated ( apart from lorikeets of course). As I have Fruit Pigeons, it take no extra to feed the Eccies. I'm sure there are plenty who disagree with me, & will say that a pellet are nutrionally complete & are all that they need, but would you rather a nice juicy piece of steak, or have it blended up, & put into a hard dry pellet. I have tried pellets for parrots & find that given the choice they go for seed & fresh food every time. I personally would only use pellets as a supplement to the fresh stuff.
