What the?

Came out this morning and there were 2 new fledgelings that decided today was the day. Pleasant surprise. Dad is a RHWBGB hen is a RHPBGB but what the hell are these? I can only describe them as mottled with primaries and tail feathers having markings like spiderwebs. One in particular has a white head with dark mottling more than the other. Here are a few pics, not real clear and dont show up the distinct mottling as compared to the naked eye. I know its only early days but any thoughts, anyone?

I think they are Australian Yellows, so I would guess both parents are split Australian Yellow.

Dads brother is RHWCYB, Grand father of chicks and hen is YHPCGB(Dilute). Father of hen is dads brother. Sounds so incestuous! Have got other yellow chicks this year but not with the mottling to this extent on the back, head etc. Both have yellow beak tips. Fair bet both parets are split to yellow? More pics.

hi matcho,
yes i also think you have aussie yellows...both parents must have been split without you knowing...they can be split without the spot under the chin, but if they do have this spot you can pretty much be guaranteed they are split aussie yellow...it looks like the young will turn out to be aussie yellows with heavy markings...some prefer clean backs whilst others prefer what you have...but either way a nice surprise...well done

You will be able to tell if it is an Aussie yellow by the nodules on side of beak being white. Only coloured birds show this not splits. Splits will have same nodule colour as normal gouldians. Hope this helps.

Both babies have lighter coloured nodules than normals BUT they each have one on each side yellowish in colour as can be seen in some of the pics. What gives?
