Here is a species that 'finchos' can keep in with their finches. From Sth America and only about the size of a Diamond Dove but with a shorter tail, this is one species that we should not let die out in Australia. The male is more rufous and has greenish/purple mirrored patches over the wing, more so than in the hen.

Ive been seeing these a bit lately in the local pet store . Perhaps they may have been a better option than the dizzy Diamond Doves .

very nice, usually a few at the canberra sales.
Often thought about picking up a pair, but always decided not to.

Not being a dove person, where do they come from? What is their price per pair? How long have they been in Australia? Never seen them until this post or are they just one of those things that arrived then because of the impot ban are going to pass on? Must admit though, they do look good.

Answered all the questions, but must admit very impersonal. :crazy: Next question..... have they turned feral antwhere in Aus like the turtledoves etc?
