Its nearly time for my gouldians to start there moult, do you keep them as pairs or separate cocks from hens till the breeding season.

Doesn't really matter. They won't breed during the moult anyway.

I like to separate them...but that's just me (oh and I put any uncoloured juvies in with the hens!)

I seperate my gouldians but it is really up to the individual. I do it as i think it makes them keener to go down once the season starts again. It depends also on whether you have the space to do it!

If I had the space I would not keep the sexes together, it gives both a break from displaying and when breeding season starts again they are more keen to breed.

Ive heard good and bad point for both ways.
Separating, means that everyone can moult in peace without being harassed by another bird that is "ready to go"
Downside is as already mentioned lack of space. Another downside is that some say it breaks the "pair bond so takes a little longer to pair up again

Tt101, my uncoloured young cocks display now as well as the Adult cocks.
