My gouldians have just started to have very watery droppings with some white in it, they are eating and drinking ok but now they sit on the perch all fluffed up, they seem to drink a lot of water as well. Any help please as i dont want to lose them.

I'm pretty hopeless at accurately diagnosing illness in my finches, but if they're fluffed up I'd get them warmed up immediately. If you don't have a hospital cage then a desk lamp will work. How many do you have and are all of them fluffed up? If they're all fluffed up then I'd say an urgent trip to the vet is in order. There's a list of avian vets somewhere on this forum.

I agree with the heat if that is possible, have you wormed or treated them with anything in the last week or so? Any clicking noises?
Ive found a couple of websites that deal with poopology.. :eh: worth taking a look but would I would err on the side of caution before going ahead and treating without a vets advice.

Very good articles BB. Bluedog since your finches are fluffed I would definitely putting them in a hospital cage with heat, now I'm no vet but watery droppings could be a number of things form stomach problems to a few nasty virus/bacterial issues to even internal organ problems. With the heat I would give only a basic seed diet and even an electrolyte drink. At your first chance I would ring a vet (avian if possible) explain the situation they may be able to help if not take the gouldians with stool sample to be checked.

Thankyou everyone for your help, the closest avian vet to Muswellbrook is sugar loaf vets which is about one and a half hours away i will take a day off work to see them as the vets here in Muswellbrook only seem to deal with horses and cows etc not much help at all. Again thankyou.
