is anyone else's gouldians getting 'right into the moult?'
i have one male thats right into it and all the new feathers are just starting to come out of the pins especially on his head and breast.
ive been trying hard not to go into the aviary as much lately as i don't want to stress them out too much in case they come down with something.

Mine havent shown any sign of molting yet??? Not even my fledglings from February

Got them with half purple chests, maybe one or two head feathers and on some a mish mash of baby and adult green on their backs, seems like they have been like this for ages. Some are not even this far advanced.
No adults moulting yet.

Not much on my front either, just a spot here and there on the heads and the blues have a bit of colour on the back.

not yet, seems oct/nov for my lot most years.

Most of my juvenile's started colouring up about 2 weeks ago, The adult birds also began about the same time and there is now a lot of flight feathers on the ground in their aviaries.

Last year my birds did'nt start their moult until about mid October, so they are way ahead of their normal timing.

We have had very little rain for the last 2 months and the days usually warm up by about 8 am. In addition to this any wind we get is usually not very cold, so i guess this is probably a good stimulus for the early moult.

Naw, what a poor boy! Gee, I would freak out if I found one of my finches looking like that! But I plan on keeping gouldians so ill have to get used to it!
