has anyone ever fed their birds curl grubs. the little "C" shaped ones that live in the earth? i think they are also called lawn grubs.

i just found repotted a plant and found about sixty of these fat little grubs in the earth and placed them in a dish in the aviary. i read poultry, magpies, bandicoots and other wildlife love them. these ones seemed about half grown compared to the larger ones i have found and whilst they are still far too big for even my weavers to swallow i figured they may peck them and suck out the juices.

The only birds that I have that will eat them are the curlews, kingfishers, pittas, pheasants, rails, blackbirds and thrushes.
They would be far too big for finches.
I bet the plant that you found them in was not very well.

An old successful breeder of red-crested cardinals said his birds loved them.

Now all I need to do is to find some red-crested cardinals!!!
