Just wondering if any particular colours are easier to breed for a begginer? Also are there any good books I could purchase?

Good to start with Normals (but I'm Biased

)...I have A Complete Pet Owners Manual on Gouldian Finches by Matthew M Vriends PhD...Pretty well covers everything

Definately start with your favourite head colour in normals. And read everything you can off the forum. And you will have a good starting pointer or two. Good luck.

i read and was told by my breeder that the blue gouldians were more fragile and needed better understanding of gouldian genetics because the blue gene effected the hardiness of the bird.

How about the Australian Yellows? And the white breasted mutations? Are they just as easy?

So far so good for me with the Aussie yellow. They seem to be one of the hardiest mutations apart from the normal yellow.
