young redbrows!

very excited - this morning i heard a hungry brood of redbrows begging for the first time! both parents are madly foraging for green seed and insects as well as stuffing themselves at the seed tray. i really didn't think my first brood after 20 years would be redbrows! longtails are also sitting, but no sound from them yet. as i recall, in most aussie finches the chicks start begging (with sound) at about a week old?

Great news about the red-brows. I wish I could be so lucky. Actually skill in managing and feeding your birds has a lot to do with it to so you should be congreadulated especially with such a finicky species.

Apart from Diamonds and Gouldians (who you can't miss), I often don't hear the others until they're close to fledging. Might be my bodgy hearing though!

Ooops, forgot to congratulate you on the redbrows. Looks like there might be some aviary bred ones around the Sydney area after all!
