Snake Repeller-Solar "Does it work or is it another scam"?

I like all finch keepers live in fear of a visit from a snake. I have very simple easy maintenance breeding cages and a separate well planted display flight in another location but... I think it would take me several visits to notice a snake taking finches. So I am always on the lookout for new ideas when I came across a solar powered - snake repeller from Derwent Traders who specialise in animal repellants and traps http://www.derwenttraders.com.au/conten ... e_452.html another site http://snake-repeller.com.au/

Has any one used the snake repeller or know of any finch keepers that have? If so, how successful has it been?
One visit from a snake previously cost me a lot more than the price of this product.

I understand it puts a vibration into the ground that snakes dislike but most snake visitors to my property come via tree. I have no bush/trees near or contacting the outside of my averies, what I mean is they tend to be snakes that are very happy to spend the majority of their time off the ground I have visited Utube to view how the snake repeller works, how to install it and viewed endorsements for the product.
BUT... I also found this about how it does not work-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bhldl5REMs

Please provide my with you experiences in relation to keeping finches.

I bought two of them earlier in the year (during winter). Mine are pretty flaky and often are not operating then they'll work for a day or so. I suspect the battery and solar panel is complete crap. I must admit I haven't seen any snakes, but we usually don't see them till the weather warms up so I suspect this is just a coincidence. And you're supposed to push the thing pretty much all the way down (about a foot down), which is easier said than done, given the light aluminium pole and plastic top (probably ok in very deep top soil). They also include a light, so they act as a night light if you shove them in the avairy (when the solar panel/batterys' working that is). I'm not convinced they''ll repel snakes as it's a pretty pathetic buzz that they make. No idea if they actually work, so can't say I'd recommend them.

I got mine on eBay - about $30 for 2 if I recall correctly. They look identical to the ones in your links.

I bought a "Shishi Odoshi" (Japanese Deer Scarer) about 10 years ago and I swear that I have NEVER seen a Japanese deer around my area, seems to work for a very large area. :?
