We went to Flying High Walk Thru Bird Aviary today...just a few pics of the birds that didn't take off as soon as camera produced ...Finches seen were Zebras, Javas, Nuns, Gouldians...but wouldnt sit still long enough The Cross is Barney and they do not condone this ...They rescued him and keep him to show others...

When this business was for sale a couple of years ago I asked the previous owner about the species birds held in the free flight. He stated that the big free flight was well stocked with 100s of finches, small parrots and doves/pigeons. He said the larger aggressive or destructive parrots were held in internal aviaries which also made close up photos easier for the tourists.
The new updated web site shows that they are expanding. Did you take any other photos of the setup. Do they still allow tours of the macaw breeding program.

They have a lot of doves/pigeons (all different sizes)...not many finches that I could see or hear (only seen 1 gouldian) ..quite a few parrots flying in the freeflight area....but the whole thing is very run down...they are very slowly doing sections up....once it is better shape I will go back again...but pictures of palm trees and other plants chewed to the base are not very exciting to see ....Breeding progam?? didnt know they had one I asked him what he is doing if he breeds a lot of stock and he does sell them off....but didnt know bout the Macaws...

I went there last year and they said they had just taken over, there were heaps of gouldians flying around at that stage.

Did you get 'attacked' by the BLUE ASSASSINS! (They were great!)

I don't know much about parrots but i think they were blue quakers!

They were always landing on us, i shouldn't have worn a white shirt!

Barney looks like galah x corella to me

Actually i think thats biggest bird blooper ive seen for awhile. Who would do that ?

Barney has eyes like a Little Corella aka Bare Eyed Corella . Just my observation.

Strange colour though ... but then again they dont let me out much so what would I know ...

It says Barney is a Galah x Major Mitchell. Which makes it worse than if it was Galah x Corrella cause Majors are not in anywhere near the quantities of Corella's. And what about the mix matched pair with the log?
