yay i finally got my new australian yellow gouldians, (2 coloured, 2 split) but the breeder gave me a surprise and added in another split and AY. they are both babies but both look like hens which should work out well because one of the australian yellows is a male.
they still look a bit dodgy because of moult and stuff but they should look good in a few weeks.

Beautiful birds! I really love the yellows!!!!

If the babies are hens looks like you will be able to make up 3 pairs of AY to Split AY should give you a nice lot of AY & Splits nice year

Finally nice looking little mob there ...really hope you have some fun with them .
Might be an excuse to visit the rellies in Wagga and grab a pair further down the track

just got a pic of just the australian yellows in their new aviary

the one at the back has a lilac coloured breast. the breeder said it has something to do with the black head gene??

They look really good. Like the look of the front right one in the "in the box" pic and the same bird (in the middle) in the aviary pic. What is the breeding behind that one?

You mean the young one with a lot of mottling on the back??
If so her/his parents would have been split AY to AY. I'm going to try and breed my birds completely yellow but before that I need to produce some more AY this upcoming season, I just seem to like the look of that pure yellow on the back.

can i ask something about this gouldians.
Australian Yellow how i must see this bird,to the Europian norm,is this the same as what we call Pastel green,who has a single factor to the yellow ?
It's will say the next mutation is the 100 % pure Yellow ?
Anoter thing is can me explan someone what a black head has to do with a purple breast,while braun mealine( you will find over near the whole body from the gouldian) and the purple light interfretion make the braest colour from the gouldian,this has nothing to do whit the headcolour of the black headed,while this is pure black eumoline

it has a completely different genetic make up as compared to the pastel green or european yellow because it is a recessive bird like the blue gouldian finch. australian yellows only ever have white breast. but i have seen this purple tinge on other australian yellows as well. someone else may be able to explain the purple lilac colour to the breast. maybe an illusion?? maybe not.
