The one on the right is slowly becoming scarce and the lefty is now abundant but I would like a heads up on the lefty . I think the right hand one is wild oats and I guessed it was safe as the local Rosellas eat it .

The one on the right is barley mayb? Have alot of that after i had horse manure put in the garden beds. What ever it is it has come from the horses. Oats?

I think the one on the right is oats after look at a few pics on the net.
dont think the left one is barley though, all the barley pics Ive seen show it to be a lot more "hairy" than the seed you have there.

I put some out for the wild Grass Parrots and they ate it ...now to see if they come back tomorrow.

The left one is Prairie grass - Bromus Catharticus the right one is a large oat variety , both are very edible but I find only the larger finches can tackle them gouldians will eat them easily and parrot finches will wait under areas where you hang them for parrots and gouldians to drop scraps.

The one on the left is nou quite ready to harvest until it opens up more. I always thought it was wild oats. But have only ever guessed that it was. But would go with the concenses so far. Maybe it's a common name for it. Have a look on Marcus pollards site he has a good range off grasses named there.

Shark is spot on.
Brome grass on the left (aka rescuegrasss for some medicinal reason) and wild oats on the right.
All my finches take oats, and chew on the stems like we used to when we were kids (it's quite sweet to taste), but none seem especially into the Brome grass.
It doesn't open a lot more before it ripens.

The finches will have a go at the oats here , takes them a while and then they drag it up to the nests .
The parrots all eat both types of grass and I notice one of the quail nests lines with the spent stems .
Thanks for the ID ...theres quite a few more grasses out there that Ill try and get pics up for too.
Admin peoples might consider a place just for grasses where we can post pics and have then ID ed ...kinda like a reference thingy ...just a thought .
