Thank you I am so excited like a little kid at Christmas. I so want to keep looking & bothering the new parents. But I know for there survival I need to keep clear for a spell, the new seed dish with egg biscuit is about all the disturbance they can handle.
Seeing this is there first young I hope they realize & know how to feed them. As it took them many tries just to sit on the nest properly.

This was the only way I could get my picture showing was a link to my Flickr

Nice work! If only I could find some hens to go with my make finches I may be able to experience the same thrill!

Congratulations. Like Jay says, the thrill exists regardless of the rarity or otherwise of the bird.

This morning I had a real scare found one of the chicks out of the nest on the bottom of the cage. Compared to a Zeb chick thats a hell of a fall to take. I had a hard time picking up the chick, but after several careful tries we got the chick back in the nest. Where mum shortly returned & to what I could make out began feeding the young.
Now this evening when I tried to look in the nest my hen is being very determined to keep the chicks from my sight. So I have no clue to what is going on. Hopefully they are doing well ? Also the male is so jumpy.

Looks like my pair are being good parents. The little peak they gave me into there nest there was wriggling by the young. Still cant tell how many babies we have, but day three & we still have movement is a good sign.
