Need help working out best mix of birds to stop fighting

Hey guys, I'm a new member. I recently posted a question regarding my little finch and canary under a different topic but thought it would be helpful to list it here too in case I got other ideas. I have a one legged male zebra finch (charcoal) and a very lively smallish female canary. The finch is very sedate and due to his disability is quite inactive. The female canary can annoy him a bit, generally this appears to be an attempt to get him to play but on occassions it has turned a little aggressive and I've had to intervene. They are both quite young birds and I have had them together for approximately 1 year. They are in a largish cage (approx. 75cmx45cmx130cm). I would love to transition to an avairy at some stage but worry about how the little finch would go. I would love to have a situation whereby these two could be kept together but don't know the best way to proceed and don't want to end up getting more birds and then having them in five different cages due to fighting, breeding etc. I do not want to breed birds. I wasn't sure whether another disabled bird or active bird would help or harm and which way to go from here. Any advise on the best way to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Rebecca.
