Sitting on my dads front step today having a smoke after helping him move house and what should I see only around 3 foot away from me in the japanese maple a recently fledged eastern spinebill, there as been a family in dads yard or years always come and flit amongst the fushcia outside the kitchen window but this is the first time I've seen a young fledgling and from what I could hear there were at least another 2 young ones up higher in the tree. I'd seen dad earlier when I arrived eating from some of the other plants (can't remember the name right now :()

Beautiful stuff, Maz.

During spring, it seems birdkeepers' ears are very sensitive to fledglings cheeping.
Lucky you to see one.
