Any one know a reliable way of telling the sex of red face parrot finches. Have got a few juvies any info would be great . thanks

I can tell the sexes of my young Red-faced when they first fledge by the reddish smudged cheeks of young cocks and complete absence of this on young hens. This is likely to be variable though so can't be fully relied on with all RFPFs. Mine just pan out that way and I'm used to how my young birds should appear as fledglings so I can tell what they are at this stage with my birds only. The more reliable sexing methods which I know of are only reliable at maturity.

My cock birds are singing 3 weeks from the nest! Make sure you band them, youll find out for sure, just need to sit down and watch
