If you lived near a river or stream getting a weeks worth of Gambusia would only take you half an hour or so...

Legal to collect them, but illegal to release them back into the wild, or transport them cross-state

hmmm..... probably only a matter of time before the population ran out though, and it would almost certainly happen when you had chicks in the nest :roll: :P

for the ecosystem sure but not so much the kingfishers.
alternatively you could build the aviary over a portion of the stream and let them fish themselves :P

Do you have an opening for an acolyte?

Do tell: do they need lots of live invertebrates with the odd frog, or are they happy with dead fish?
Do they need running water nearby (as I have heard said)?
