Finally i get a pair of my Cream Longtails to breed after buying a new Normal Hen and found 5 young Cream baby hens on the floor 3 dead and 2 alive put the 2 back in the nest, next morning other 2 dead. I cant believe all 5 were to be Cream hens and that happens. Hope hey go back to nest.

What a shame - no doubt they'll nest again shortly. We certainly get our ups and downs with this hobby. Do you have any ideas as to why they were out of the nest? About how old were they? Any sign of injuries?

Amca - so sorry you lost all of them. I was really hoping the two you rescued would make it.

SamDavis, it was a hot day but the nest was about waist height, 2 were near the door, 2 under the feeder and 1 straight under the nest site. A couple had by the looks of internal blood around the head so i dont know if the cock bird was wantin to go back to nest. They were about 5-6 days old. But also a pair of the Fawns have only 1 young from about 6 eggs which is about the same height in a different aviary.

Looks like they are going back to nest in a different spot that was already made. Will keep an eye on the tails over the weekend.

Normal Hen would be first time but have had the Cream cock a couple of years now and have a spare one as well as a Split cock. Need to buy another pair of Normals to use the Hen to the other Cream cock.
How long have you had yours mackstaa?

Sorry to hear you lost them all. But glad to hear they are fertile so things should work next time.

AMCA
Mack sounds like your cock is firing blanks if she is laying OK. Either that or she does not like the look of him.

Could also be he is overweight..happens a lot in (parrot finches)...very very rarely have I found birds infertile...
