This the type of thing you are looking for?

OB's = orange breasted waxbills
Ruddies =Fire finches in SA
BFPF = Blue faced parrot finches
RFPF = Red faced parrot finches
ASM = Air Sac Mites
Moxi = Moxidectin and Moxidectin plus
Goulds = Gouldians
BH = black head
RH = red head
YH = yellow head
PC = purple chest or PB = purple breast
WC = white chest or WB = white breast
GB or NB for the normal coloured back gouldian
DFYB = double factor yellow back
SFYB = single factor yellow back
BB = blue backed gouldian or me :D

Pretty much what di said, plus
Blood = crimson finch
DB = desertbirds
Not a common avi term, but I just love BFCS ,the black faced cuckoo shrike. On birding outings you just yell "BFCS!" and you get so many odd glances :lol:
Cordin/cordan/cordun = cordon blue waxbill
Gents= maggots
Bully's = chestnut breasted mannikin
LBQ= little button quail
