This is my young blue, she has just enough colour on her chest to call her a hen although I did think earlier that might be the case, due to the softer look around the eyes.

She will be a nice looking hen when she moults out but
she will problably breed late.

Yes I wouldn't be attempting to pair her up this year.

It wasn't the first one, unfortunately the first blue I bred died, same parents, same aviary, previous clutch, I was beyond devastated!
But onwards and upwards, I expected some setbacks when I decided to take on the blue mutation.

Breeding more of the Blues in the coming season will be the next challenge.

Congratulations. The waiting to be able to sex them is excrutiating isn't it.
