The parents were yellow backed posible split blue.Well we now know they were definite splits.They were also unknown to me both split white breasts,as one young in the same batch has a white breast.That same one apears to be a aussie yellowback as it has some slight green flicks through it.I am pretty sure mum died after they fledged and I sent the father possibly to Adelaide to a friend.So I dont have the parents to view.

Last photo all siblings from same batch.Not the best photo in a old sorting box with blood from a nick in their.Let me assure you though the bird is fine and it looks worse then it was.

Gomer if both parents were yellow backs then all the young will be yellow backs. The blue offspring would thus become a pastel blue, almost silver looking (but not a silver as the white breast is absent). An Australian Yellow would be masked by the European yellow, and therefore impossible to tell from a yellow back in all likelihood. This would be even more so in a white breasted bird which makes the yellow lighter generally.

The only way to exclude Aus Yellow would be breeding in this case. To me, based on that photo the green is too even across the back, I have some yellow back hens that are "less yellow" than their cock counterparts.

Gomer to me it looks like you have pb silver hen because both parents were split white breast
so you will get purple breast,to me in the last photo you have silver hen posible split w/b
w/b pastel p/b pastel and a posible split european yellow

You certianly got lucky with the possible splits it's a shame you don't have them anymore.

The bird in the second picture looks like a BH Lilac Breasted Pastel, the reason I say that is the breast looks to be half way between Purple & white and the back half way between pastel blue and silver but I have not bred silvers or pastels so I'm just offering what I think it could be.

Thats the one I am not to sure with.I have breed a couple of silvers but never got them through the moult.And I have never breed or kept lilacs.But now a couple of people Have said its a white/Lilac breast. And I assume a hen ? Because it has no white ring at the back of the head.Unless lilac changes that different from w/b I dont know.

I wont buy into this one gomer, but nice looking birds anyway.

but iv been thinking about the colours, head nearly exploded 10 times lol.... please corrections if im wrong....

the bird in the 2nd pic is a cockbird, bh/white chest/pastel, i say white chest because if both parents were purple chest split white chest they then cant be split for lilac on top of that???

so my guess is its just a dirty white chest.

it may molt out the lilac colouring after the next molt????, have read that this happens sometimes.....

either way its a nice bird in my eyes, have fun breeding with it next season, pair it with a white chest hen then you will know if all the babies come out lilac chest since lilac is dominant over white chest u will know if dad is in fact lilac chest,,,, but yeh hopefully that kinda made sense...

I think this bird is a cock bird because it has a blue ring around the back of the head like a SF Yellow, if it was a hen there would be no ring.

The ring is confusing me because it should have a white ring there according to GGF if it was a cock.Due to the parents genetic background according to the young and what I know.

That bird you mentioned you weren't sure of.....after I played about with the GGF I think its a
BH WB SFYellowBlue cock
if it was a hen it wouldn't have such a strong blue line around the neck
if it was a DFYellowBlue cock the neck colour would be white
Its got to be either a WB or a Lilac because if it was PB the body colour would be pastel if a cock and if a hen it wouldn't have much of a neck colour at all.
