Well today the only thing I came home with from the auction was a bird sexer, pretty much a magnet on a string.

I just couldn't resist giving it a crack , so far I have checked a few goulds already knowing the sex, they were correct, then I tried what I suspect as a male hecks , its said a male .
So now I try a masked , the thing didnt budge I made it move it still came to a dead stop, so to me the jury is still out . Seen it in action today by Jon Middleton , his hand didn't move in the slightest, it will be interesting to see results after afew birds moult out.... pete

Good to see your keeping an open mind .

While I wouldnt sell a bird going on the pendulum method it does have a place for birds I want to keep or am almost certain of sex .

Can we have a pic sometime of a proper one please . Mine is just a silver chain with a zodiac charm on the end ( I made it myself ).

Oh PELEESE! Do a blind test, get someone to hold a bird of known sex, that you have not seen under a piece of paper or rag and you hold the magnet, stringy thingy over it and see what happens.
Alternatively hang the devise from a fixed object eg. corner of a table or something and hold the bird under it, see what happens. Just wait 'till I speak with Jon Middleton again.

By the way I'm selling a new, pyramid shaped devise that will tell you 100% if your bird is fertile or not. You put the bird in the device on its back and if it flies out it's fertile. If it just lies there with it's feet in the air its no good for breeding. Saves many years of wasted time, only $200 each. Pm if interested. :shifty:

The force is strong here to Pete.
I cant explain it but it has defiantly some merit. It seems to work with only a small group of people only.A few people I have showed swear by it now.I use a heavy sewing needle and cotton wool.Next time you get some birds DNA ed do it first with the needle and see if the results come back the same.I have done this a few times and got 10 out of 10 right.Because it cant be explained and has no scientific merit,I use it as a last check on everything else I have done first with sexing. There are many monomorphic birds that are sexed incorrectly,Using this has no negative effect on these hard to sex birds. And hey if you are enjoying what your doing go for it.

P.S I tried water divining once on a property I did not know and found all the water pipes this way.Maybe I am a good coin tosser ?
P.P.S I never win at gambling and dont believe in it.
