That's a top story Eorix, what a dedicated pair most birds that escape don't usually stay around for long let alone keep going back in and out.
Crocnshas its been along time since breeding them and even when I did I had them in a large cabinet so when breeding I had a better clue than now which I didn't get best results. This is the first time in and aviery for breeding so its nice to know that I'm not just clueless and that they are secretive. Would it better to split the pair as to not allow breeding through the winter as I thought that with the colder weather aproaching that they would stop like my last pairs.

Danny why would you stop them you have a proven pr so let them do what what comes naturally.Their nests are so insulated the young want feel the cold until they leave the nest and then their pretty tough little birds so long as your aviary is dry and has minimal draughts. Craig

Craig I'm more worried about the hen getting eggbound that's why I'm not to keen to let anything breed during winter, id prefer a bad year in breeding than to risk the chance of her getting eggbound as I only get to check my aviery in the afternoon and I might not catch her being eggbound, but I will see how things go and if trouble looks to be coming then I might give them a rest.

Well today I split the young from the parents, not to soon as dad started to round the young close to the wire at the front as well as chase them a bit. I believe that the time came for them to go or a couple of dead young would be on the floor soon. Well the two end up being cocks and to amy surprise I ended up with three and the last a little girl so all good with that first result. Now got to find a young cock for my hen next year.
