hi all,
I tried out a new recipe last night (see recipe below).
Result = feeding frenzy!!! Red faces had a go, then the longtails and cordons and red brows joined in... first time I've seen such a unanimous approval for something I made. Gouldians, tri nuns and saint helenas also looked interested.
Made it for the gouldians with chicks, figured some soft food would be appreciated for their chicks :) but now everyone wants it!!

Recipe:
ingredients:
1/3 cup of cous cous
1/3 cup of boiling water
1 hard boiled egg
small handful of garden peas (I used frozen and defrosted them)
small handful of corn

Method:
- Put cous cous and boiling water in a jug and cover with glad wrap
- Hard boil 1 egg
- Defrost peas
- Once egg is done, leave to cool, then peel off the shell and mash with a fork.
- Combine mashed egg with couscous
- Add peas & corn
- Smash and add the egg's shell.

took me a sum total of fifteen minutes, makes a sort of slightly gooey mash.
Makes enough for about a week for 24 birds.

would be interested to know if anyone else has tried this (or subsequent variation of this), and what their results were.

Ive made this and added egg and biscuit mix if it was too gooey. Most of the birds seem to like it. If fact I might make some right now, thanks for the kick Jayburd! :D

Made! I added a spoonful of millet meal and and 2 spoonfuls of egg and biscuit to dry it a bit more.

Yep easy peasy and quicker than making bird bread for those lazy days ...

Thanks everyone :D good to hear some feedback from others :)
Yours looks quite different to mine Di, perhaps you're just using a different brand of couscous. What else is in there?
Quick question, how long does it last in fridge/freezer?

Cous Cous is Pasta ... should be right for a couple months if frozen straight away .
