I am amazed how many people are actually scared of birds- I mean have a real phobia. It's the whole wing flapping in your face thing that terrifies them, and many of them are real animal lovers otherwise ( which usually translates to "cute furry things")

I would love to see birds of any species on that scale. Maybe it's the conservationist in me seeing proof that the species is in good shape. Yes I do feel sorry for the street cleaner.

I know! I get so many people ask why I study birds, instead of something more 'interesting' (read: cute and cuddly). Have to admit, I am cautious around large parrots since they have pretty wicked beaks- but I think that's a reasonable caution!
