As mentioned earlier these are the photos I took of the female Hawfinch that I had in my collection well over 30 years ago. It's showing a little wear and tear and I doubt if it will breed seeing its getting close to 40 years old.

Orix, she looks a little glassy eyed. I think she needs a visit to the vet!!

How come they evolved into such a big head?
Is there something they eat in the wild that requires a bit more beak power?

Well they do look unique. I'm tipping they were a bit hard to breed so that's why they aren't around anymore so how hard are they to breed Eorix? Any special foods needed.

i think they have evolvedto eat Hazzle Nuts etc
By the way you'd be glassy eyed locked away as long she has.
She is probaly older than 1/3 of our Forum members but still better looking I guess :lol: :lol:

Sorry Orix but she's a bit stuffed, interesting bird though and is it named after what it eats (Hawthorn seed/fruit)? Craig :idea:
