Hi All,

With these hot days and nights, my blue split hen whom has decided that it is too hot to sleep in the box.
This is day 2 without night time care and minimal during the day.
With only 5 days until hatching, is this narrowing my chances of hatching healthy young?
My Dilutes seem to be able to incubate day and night, in the same aviary, no problems.
I know it's only early in the seasonand they are young birds, but patients isn't one of my strong points.
5 fertile Blue/Split eggs, would be a great start for my year.
Any possitive feedback to help me sleep at nights, would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jason

I would say those eggs would be no good if she has stopped incubating ,but I could be wrong

I'd say not. The birds dont generally stop sitting unless somethings up

Hi all,

Sorry I have been busy and haven't been on the forum.
Yes they did hatch with foster parents. Pair of yellow backs.
All four hatched but only 2 lived to fledge. 1 blue back and 1 split.
I put down to a bad nest build as the 2 that died were under the nest material to one side.
The yellows are now raising their own young. 4 yellows and one mystery which with white nodules is a split or blue.
