That's no good! Good to hear you've got a good surrogate though! You should get your birds into the finch breeder database I was telling you about the other night. It really is excellent for record keeping... Shows your pairs, how many eggs, when they hatched (can calculate when they are due to hatch as well), has good genetic info (bluebutterfly helped with that!) and much much more. Takes a bit to set it up when you've got a few birds, but once you get it done and keep on top of it it is excellent!venetta wrote:These white breasts are the worst parents ever!!
Didn't have a chance to check them last night as we went to gym after work, but there were three babies yesterday morning.
Checked this morning to find one missing, one looked to be trampled in the nest and one still alive (luckily). We didn't have much time as we had to leave for work, so we took the risk and removed an infertile egg from another pair who are sitting (and we think are due to hatch in the next few days) and put the baby in with them.
We came home this afternoon expecting the worst, like the baby to be kicked out and dead, or maybe still in there but barely alive and unfed...
But we found a little baby under daddy and he looked to be very nicely fed!! We are so happy and hope that he survives!!
I just really hope these other eggs don't take too long to hatch.. I'm bad with noting down dates :/ lol
