Hi folks,

Can shredded paper (the type you put through a standard electric shredder) be given to finches to use as nesting material? A shame to throw it out.

hi i put enough nesting materal in the box with just a small amount on the cage floor, zebras have a habit of building sandwich nests ,laying and building on top again so they dont need a lot of materal ,once the 1st egg is laid remove all other materal ,if not they will just keep building.

I also use shredded paper from the shredder, but not shiny stuff. And I use it for mixed finches not just Zebs. Diamond doves will also use it, which is good cause the idiots seldom put anything much in their nest pans. Yes my Zebs layer nest too. But am starting to cage breed instead of aviary breeding so will have more control in future.
