 If I knew how helpful this was I would have posted it a while back... Only problem is I try and find "WA" and get all the wanted ads, as well as every Wally and town starting in wa. I don't know why Petlink hasn't put in a search function though. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Another tip is if you're looking for an old petlink ad, that is expired, you can just google the URL and press the 'cached' button. This should let you see it.

Danny wrote:What I hate about Petlink is the one finch add buried in 9000 parrot ads. Computer geeks probably already new about this but I just learnt how to do a word search on a petlink page so you only have to look at the finch ads.

Simply hit Ctrl + F together and a Find box pops up in the left corner. This works on any website at all.
If you want to be lazier just hit F3. Sorry I thought if I knew every single person in the would would know !!! I am a computer dinosaur :wtf:

I have often found finches for sale hidden in titles such as 'birds for sale' or under a specific name such as Diamond Firetail (even sparrow) or Longtails or Long Tails....so, the CTL F only works if you type in all the potential words.....just to confuse the matter!!!!

Thats true sometimes birds are under silly prefixes ....
Accept that some days you are the pigeon, and some days you are the statue.

You can also use the Google search system, often very helpful, sometimes not. This latter because it will show both the index listing and the advert listing, so you just don't click on the entry that has the index listing. Also for a short while it will show cached ads that have been edited or removed.

But its easy to do, have a play with the format and see what you think:

http://www.google.com/search?q=finch+ns ... ink.com.au

Edit: Because links get partly hidden the above one is (without the space): http://www.google.com/ search?q=finch+nsw+site:petlink.com.au

You will also notice that, unlike standard searching, looking for WA listings with Google doesn't pull all the WAnted ads!
http://www.google.com/search?q=finch+wa ... ink.com.au

You can see how it works and just substitute the info (or site) you actually want, it is a very powerful tool. Obviously if the advert doesn't have the term in it you won't get the listing, so if you REALLY want a Diamond Painted Firetail (who wouldn't?) then you better give "firetail" a go!
http://www.google.com/search?q=firetail ... ink.com.au

Enjoy........
Some days are Diamonds some days are Zebs. Sometimes the coccidiosis won't leave me alone. Sometimes a cold wind blows a chill in my Gouldians. But any day with my finches is a day without stones.
