I have found the best seed to sprout is rape seed.
Just cover with water overnight, rinse under running water in a strainer the next morning, leave in strainer over a bowl until evening , rinse again, let stand again in strainer overnight, next morning its ready to use . Thats my method of doing it. And it works a treat everytime for me. And i only do about two cupfuls at a time for the amount of finches i feed it to.
Of Note: I just recently tried pannicum and millet - but the millet didnt sprout and by morning the pannicum had gone mouldy.
And until i was enlightened about this forum, i had never had any luck sprouting seed.
Good Luck !
