Hi
Can anyone tell me if crimson finches build roosting nests as I have a pair in a large cabnet that have just built a nest after about 3 weeks ( only in cabnet till aviary is built). People have told me Melba's don't build roosting nest but mine have built 3 ?

Never knew any of mine to build roosting nests...but who knows anythings possible..

not normally, they are still breeding in sth qld so given Airlies nice climate I would think they are doing what they are supposed to be doing but it is getting late in the season.

I believe crimsom finches breeding season to be April through to September,thats when mine breed and no,they don't build a roosting nest as most prs can't bear being within 100mm of each other.
I would say they are attempting to breed in the cabinet and if they do keep an eye on them for aggression in that small space.Good luck. Craig
