Hmm, here's a perfectly good explanation of how vulnerable masks can be, and why I just know I've gotta try again!

Some days are Diamonds some days are Zebs. Sometimes the coccidiosis won't leave me alone. Sometimes a cold wind blows a chill in my Gouldians. But any day with my finches is a day without stones.

Hi Vince been reading this post and I have had to read it a few times to get what is being said. Sorry to hear that you have run into problems with purchasing new birds. What I do and has worked successfully for me is when I purchase new birds, I'd place them in a Canary breeding box, this is placed in my garage away from other birds. Once in there they get a big shallow dish with plain water and a big dish of seed. I don't use electrolyte formula unless birds are looking not quite right and really stressed. I have used heat before when birds look really stressed but if they look to be ok I don't use it. As for medications I don't use it unless they show symptoms of an illness. Worming of birds is only done when birds are to be released into aviery and looking healthy. I keep them quarantined for a minimum of a month. The only time I annoy them is to feed and change water. My way is simple and has worked for me for years. Personally I'm not a great lover to medicate on arrival and periodically just when its required except with worming that's the only med that will be used most. A must that has to be done is quarantine and the rest of what happens from that point is up to you which way you go with meds using electrolytes or heat. Some people swear by medicating through quarantine and some don't so there is no correct answer,I have mine go through without meds and many may use meds and we probably come out in the end with similar results so you have to find what suits you and your birds.
Vince you have made some mistakes and I bet we all have at one time or another so nows the time to change them into successes. Good luck and hope you find the right path for you and your birds
