Hi everyone I have a question! I have a baby painted in the nest by itself. I just had a look and noticed it was having trouble breathing an there was clear like fluid in and around it's beak! Any ideas? I need to know if I should take it out and with it something? Warmth? Food? It's is getting feed but it has been wet here in WA and I think it may have picked up a bug?
Thanks
Help baby painted!

V,
I think that you should leave it be. If it is being fed then to my way of thinking the parents don't have a problem. If they can't fix it then maybe what was meant to be will be. Tough love, I know, but in all reality if it was meant to survive it will.
Keep us posted.
cheers
Matcho.

Sorry matcho! You were too late in saying that, we'd already brought it in and put it under heat and made it a little nest!
It seems to be doing well at the moment, taking feeds from a crop needle. It's fairly close to fledging age as it is, so fingers crossed...
Kylie found some leaf in it's mouth, whether it got in there by accident, as the nest they were in was seemingly falling to pieces.. We've removed it and she seems to be doing a bit better breathing now that it has been removed... When we go in to feed her, she bops around and meeps at us so seems relatively with it etc.. We'll see how she goes overnight now!
Here is a pic!
