Hello All,

To all the members, who are attending the conference....Is there someone who has bred (or keeps) the scarlet honeyeater? And that I may be able to see & chat to while I'm in Melbourne....
I've been given the greenlight to acquire a pair, but before I build their quarters I would like to see how others house them and what you do.
Just thinking, I'm more than happy to travel to discuss the birds; and to get their conditions right, hopefully first go. I live in Sydney & will be more than happy to travel, to discuss and learn from people that have them.

Cheers,
Ripley

can any members attending suggest places to stay the sat night? has anyone booked elsewhere to the main conference motel?

the near by caravan parks seem to have a 2 night policy, so i guess a bed and breakfast could be an option?

misso :)

Hello All,

I was fortunate enough to attend Weaver's talk at the Australian Finch society's monthly meeting last night.

All I can say is...If you can come to the conference, just to hear & speak to weaver it is worth it.....I learn't so much...
I also thought that the experts would be rather intimidating, but Weaver, is very open & honest & I hope that I will have the opportunity to work with him, in saving our birds for the future generations..

And I. Have to agree..Pekin Robins are beautiful birds......

Cheers,
Rlipley

Christine says that I probably need to book two seats for the flight home. She seems to be suggesting with all these raps I may not fit my head into one space.

I think you are both being very unkind.

See you thursday

I too was at Wednesday's FSA meeting and agree completely with Ripley's comments. However, I do have one issue with Weaver's talk - he flashed up an image of a Yellow Wing Pytilia for about 1/10 of a second, said words to the effect of "I've never liked pytilias" and moved on. I happen to like pytilias and have just started with Yellow Wings.

I'm really looking forward to Healesville so hopefully none of the speaker's heads will grow so large they explode prior to delivering their lecture!

Count me in - a very generous "benefactor" has made it possible for me to attend  . Just booked, really looking forward to it.

Is anyone going to do a report on the conference, or maybe post the gist of some of the talks.

Would be great for all of us that couldn’t get there
