sounds like my home accept i got a lot of shaft tails

only 2 free flying though. i couldnt imagine coming home and not having any shaft tails in my home it just wouldnt be normal for me lol
i remember going to a petshop before i had any birds i see this little shaft tail that kept calling and i'd never seen or heard of one before so i bought him

i figured he was calling for a mate and believed he was seperated. took me about 4 months to get him a hen and since then he is like a totally different bird. he was very lonely and withdrawn when i first got him but now i can definatly see he is very happy and all loved up

had him about 18 months now so he's doing fine.
he is the daddy of my little hand reared shaft tail, the hand reared one is totally unlike any shaft tail you've ever known. he even learnt tunes i used to whistle at him when he was young and he responds to words. he comes everytime i cal him too. i bought him a little mate too and he is all loved up with her lol too cute. she is now hand tame as well since i let her free fly with him. when i first bought her she didnt look well, her plumage was really bad and her beak was all chopped up with a weird deep scratch down one side but its all gone now. she's a lovely bird and i wouldnt ever part with her now.
the hand rear one (Beebies) is obsessed with my morning cuppa tea lol he wont drink it cold it MUST be warm and i know milk is a no no for finches but he will hound me til the sun goes down for it

oh and ready salted hoola hoops crisps, there is no stop in him, i even got a photo of him rummaging through my packet

these birds are a classic.
Australians are so lucky to have these birds in the wild over there, i wish they were native here too so i could watch them out my window flying freely
