Looks like I may have to begin hand rearing a gouldian fledgling, never do this before so what do I need to feed it and how do I do it. As many tips as possible would be appreciated.

Looks like they have abandoned the nest. I've been away for the week, and when I got home today one chick was out on the ground and parents showing no attention. One chick had died in the nest for some odd reason, they were due due to fledge on Wednesday. I removed the dead chick out of the nest. The parents didn't seam to show the alive chick much attention for the rest of the arvo that I saw. Just befor dark I put the chick back in the nest, hoping the parents made their way back to the nest, but doesn't look like they have.
Crop was full when I put it back in the nest so hopefully all ok. But thought I may need to arm myself if things go downhill any further.

The chick has probably left the nest because of the dead chick ,this can happen sometimes, but it sounds like the parents are still feeding the chick, hope this helps garyh.,would be better to leave it with the parents for now keeping a close eye on them, the chick will continue to leave the nest so try to have some material,ie straw dried leaves on the floor to keep it warm at night and in a few days it should be on the perch
