Hello,

Its about worming time again and I just wanted to know if someone could suggest a good 'Sweeter' to add to my Wormout gel. I tried this stuff last time but the birds just didnt want to know about it and I noticed one bird looking pretty dehydrated so i put water in and all the birds went nuts trying to get a drink. So they had obviously not touched it. I used the last of the Worm Enda I had and as usual they seemed to take that. So any suggestions would be appreciated

I swear some of my birds didnt drink for the whole 2 days the worm out gel was on offer ...The sounds of excitement when I turned the hose on were unbearable and they were landing on my arms as I put the normal drinking bowls back in ..

Note to self ...I wont be using this again especially in summer .

To answer the question I seriously do not know what would mask such an overbearing taste as Wormout gel . Maybe given by crop feed next time .

I agree with Deb. My advice - chuck the wormout gel in the bin and use Moxidectin+ unless you can give it by crop needle.

The other down side to wormout gel is the last quarter of the contents wont pump up so you then have to get into the bottle and syringe it out .... Ive used it three times now and don't think Ill use it again when there's easier and equally as effective products on the market .

The pastes I worm my horses with can contain either praziquantel, oxfendazole, moxidectin or invermectin, etc.
The horses pull the most amazing faces sometimes that I tried a tiny dot on my finger to see what all the fuss was about.
Tastes very acidic and burns the tongue. No wonder a lot of animals hate it.
No matter how much sugar you put in I reckon there would still be an after affect.

I had the same problem with my birds not touching the medicated water and then going berserk when I offered the pure water later. Found it easier to put a drop of medication on their skin instead. But then you have the hassle of catching and stressing them.
Makes it easier for free range chooks as well.
