I have a pair of gouldians for the second clutch in a row have started to lay before the previous nest has fledged. If she has started sitting today it is unlikely that the chicks would be weaned until about 23 October. Is there any chance of them colouring up this season?

I wouldn't think so. They may start, but not make it all the way through the mount, so end up with patches where juvenile feathers still remain.

I agree with spanna but a lot depends on the bird too.
Ive had one RH PC GB cock bird that hatched out in Oct a couple of years ago (pic on the forum somewhere) and he had grey head feathers till the following moult.
Ive got BH PC BB hen here at the moment (my avatar) she hatched out middle of Sept last year but she didnt make a full moult, but she is powering through it this year, already half done.
