Hi guys,
When i went to the Finches '11 conference last year few people i met over there mentioned feeding Livamol as a supplyment to their birds. I was wondering what people on the forum thought of this product? Is there any benefit? And if so how did they supply it to there birds??? I spotted some at the local stock feed so I bought some to try out but have forgotten how to provide it to my birds!!! Any info would be greatly apprciated by fellow AFF members.

I can't remember what it is exactly it does, but I've been to a few places now where people use it. They just provide it in a flattish open top dish

Ive used livermol before in a liquid form, once a week it was added to dry seedto coat it and the birds consumed it as they rolled the seed around in their beaks to dehusk it.
As far as i can remember,it contains many vitamins etc and the oily substance is good to help egg laying process. Craig

I use 'Livamol' purchased in a solid block form. Cut into smaller cubes, 5cm3, for convenience. If left out in the weather the block will slowly absorb moisture and have lasted for a couple of seasons.
I use it in conjunction with other mineral etc type supplements.

I use it mixed into my softbill softfood, breeders brew & now canary eggfood. I have also previously mixed it into finch softfoods with sprouted seed, milk seed, etc. Its a pink powdered animal vitamin, mineral & protein supplement made from oilseed meals, cod liver oil, and other undisclosed vitamin & mineral supplements.

I supply both livamol and biocal. They dont eat to much of either really just pick at it occasionally. They would have a preference to the biocal though if given a option. They also get a bit of Solaminovit Liquid and have a mineral and salt lick available if wanted, so that may account for the lack of using either.

After that finch convention, I tried livamol too. It sure is smelly stuff! I mixed it with soaked seed and my birds took a couple of days to get used to it so you need to persevere.

Thanks for your comments guys. Greatly appreciated!!
I'll put a shallow dish in the aviary with some and probably add it to my sprouted seed mix?? See how that goes?? Just trying to vary the birds diet as much as i can with bits and pecies. The guys over east did say it was a winner with there birds at the time so might aswell give it a go. Like with any new feed patience is the key. I'll let you know how it goes!!
