They sure will, drizk!drizk wrote:Will Gouldians breed in an aviary environment as well as in a cabinet?
I have no experience with colony breeding gouldians or letting them share an aviary with other birds. I have only bred them in smaller single pair aviaries and/or cabinets. I think most breeders in Australia breed them in aviaries. It all depends on what your goal with breeding gouldians is.
If you use cabinets, only use them during breeding season (apporximately 4-5 months). They need an aviary or large flight to moult and develop and rest to gain strenght after the breeding season.
How many pairs would you like to breed with?
Cheers,

Gouldians can and are being bred in many different circumstances. Single pair avairys are popular. As are 3 pair avairys where you put 3 of the same type where the hens and cocks are not related together. And then some just put a bunch of birds in an avairy and let them do what comes naturally. The 1st 2 methods are for those who want to be sure of what they are producing, as are cabinets/breeding cages.
