Look who dropped in for a visit this morning! Very unusual for them to be in this area. My gosh, though... They're so loud, they woke the kids!

Beautiful!

They love the radiata pine, and literally destroy the cones then throw the remains down with force.
Magnificent birds, so large in the flesh, and with that lovely lazy flight.

How things have changed over the years. About 15 years ago, they were doing a survey in the Geelong area (Victoria) as there were very few Yellow Tailed Black Cockies, now, it is not uncommon to see large flocks of them. Maybe it's global warming lol. I don't think so.

Great one, you got to love them , we get both forms of the white and the reds out our way, they can make all the noise they want as far as I am concerned. Its hard to believe they get a meal out of those tiny seeds in the sheoaks and casurinas..... Pete
