Color genetics
I believe I a black bodied zeb cock crossed with a charcoal hen, both are beautiful birds. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what chicks I might expect from this pairing. Also have a charcoal hen with a possibly normal/charcoal cock. Any comment on possible chick colors. The hen is again a beautiful bird, both charcoal hens are nice big birds. Am also breeding fawns that I want to eventually cross with some charcoals. The fawns were supposedly from a breeder that was showing zebs. The hen shows prominent cheek patches, show is also a big hen who unfortunately now only has one leg as the ring that was on her when I brought her got caught and ripped the bottom of her leg off. Good thing is she is still breeding. Hoping to get some white ones soon. Hopefully get some pics up soon. If anyone has pics of black bodied zebs I would love to see them. My black bodied clock was sold as a charcoal cock but he isn't as he has the orange cheeck patch still.

Sorry I don't have any idea about zebra mutations, but we do have several members who do and Im sure they will post answers to your questions.
In the meantime I came across this genetic forecaster a while back, hopefully it may help you.

This site is also useful .... http://zebracrazy.byethost13.com/AllMut.htm ....
Hopefully between the 2 sites you will be able to work out, what you have, and what you can get.

Hi finch&dove,
I'm the president of the Zebra Finch Society of Australia & can help with most mutations problems.
Blackbodied is dominant & Charcoal is recessive. Blackbodied x Charcoal will give you Blackbodied and normal Grey cocks and hens.
They will all also be split for Charcoal. A Charcoal hen x Grey / Charcoal cock will give Charcoal cocks and hens & Grey cocks and hens / Charcoal.
