Well...its that time of year again-for me anyways! Started the big task of cleaning out the aviaries!! Its going to take me a while since temperatures here in the Kimberley have already reached 41 degrees! NOt to mention trying to do all this while being 6 months pregnant!

All but 2 nest boxes remain in the Gouldian aviary. 1 box has 5 ready to fledge in the next couple of days and 1 box with 3, 5 day old chicks! So this aviary will be cleaned last!

The zebra and holding aviary will get done next once the last box of chicks fledge.

My 2 holding cages for young birds will get a good hose out as well!!

All boxes are getting cleaned set out in the sun for a day and then the ones going back into my big breeding aviary will get sprayed with coopex and allowed to dry. I have had terrible luck with ants lately. They seem to really attack the parrot finch nests!!! Not letting any thing to chance this time around!

All aviaries will get a rake out and lime put down and spread. Inside of aviaries sprayed with coopex, soiled walls and wire washed down. New brush and branches put in. I have ordered some potted native grasses to go in this year as well :)

I will be away from my birds for 6-8 weeks while i head to perth to have bubs so IM a bit anxious about it and leaving their care with a friend. Which is the main reason I am cleaning out now as I may not be able to when I get back in Feb!

Am I missing out on doing any thing?? Any advice or suggestions would be great! :)
